About Department

The Department of Zoology came into existence in June 2009. The department has completed 1st Phase of DST-FIST program. The Department offers Post Graduate Course in the subject of Zoology and PhD programme in different areas of specialisation in the latest research areas of life sciences as well as considering social problems. The department has research collaboration in the interdisciplinary research areas with institutes like IGIB, N. Delhi, NII, N. Delhi, NMRI, N. Delhi, PtBDSUHS/PGIMS, Rohtak, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra apart from interdepartmental research collaboration. The faculty has more than 200 research publication with an impact factor of 48 (TR), 12 Book Chapters, 06 books, and 06 proceedings of national seminar/conference with ISBN to their credit.  The Department has successfully organized 07 National Seminars/Conferences since its inception. The department is actively engaged in research activities and successfully competed several research projects funded by UGC, DST, etc and is equipped with sophisticated instruments like HPLC, Lyophilizer, Gel Documentation system, PCR, Autoclave, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Potentiostat, Upright and Inverted Microscope, Deep refrigerator (-86˚C), Biosafety Cabinet etc. The faculty members of the Department are actively engaged in teaching and research to cater the need of the students and society.

MDU Facilities

Lab and Instruments Facilities

The department is equipped with sophisticated instruments like  FTIR spectrophotometer, HPLC, Lyophilizer, Gel Documentation system, PCR, Autoclave, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Potentiostat, Upright and Inverted Microscope, Deep refrigerator (-86˚C), Biosafety Cabinet, laminar air flow cabinet, RO Water, BOD Incubators,  Autoclaves,  High Speed Centrifuge, Refrigerated Centrifuge, High Precision Microscope with Photography, Flame Photometer, Gel Electrophoresis Unit, Biochemical and Haematological analysers etc. The department has 02 independent state-of-art computing and networking facilities, 02 Central laboratories and Bio-safety laboratory etc for the research and PG students.
